One of the bastions of independent and art-house cinema in Sydney, the oft-buzzing Palace Verona screens an expertly curated line-up from name directors (the Coens, PT Anderson, Van Sant), world movies, quirky Australian indies and special one-offs screening of overseas stage productions and concerts. It features four boutique screens and a fully licensed wine and espresso bar, perfect for those pre-movie drinks and post-film debriefs.

Situated in the heart of Paddington on Oxford Street, Verona adds to the vibrance of this heritage village and its growing culinary scene, famed Saturday markets, contemporary art precinct, gorgeous Victorian terraces as well as the birthplace to some of Australia’s favourite designer labels.

The Verona’s grand gala opening occured on the 14^th February 1996 (happy Valentines!) with the Australian premiere of the critically acclaimed Gus Van Sant film To Die For, starring Nicole Kidman, Matt Dillon and a teenage Joaquin Phoenix. Our Nicole was of course the guest of honour, dropped off in a flash sports car by none other than Mr Mission Impossible himself.

The Verona has proudly brought the very best in international and local cinema to our loyal audience for nearly 25 years (even once hosting a notorious SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT premiere with actual Cheesy-Poofs in hot demand…).
