Sara (Juana Acosta, Crime Wave SFF19, Perfect Strangers SFF19) cannot believe her good fortune when the opportunity to buy her dream home comes her way. But there’s a catch: the house is not hers until its current owner, 80-year-old Lola, passes away.
As Lola smokes like a chimney and drinks like a fish, Sara thinks she won’t have too long to wait. But fate has a different future in mind for Sara and her life takes a very different path.
One of Pedro Almodóvar’s frequent collaborators, multi award-winning screen icon Kiti Mánver (Broken Embraces, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown SFF19) delivers an energetic and refreshing performance as Lola, thwarting both Sara and the audience’s expectations about what it means to be an older woman.
