Synopsis

Suspenseful, seductive, and sensitive. The Sundance Film Festival award-winning PLANCLOTHES is a beautifully acted romantic thriller starring Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Russell Tovey (The History Boys). The evocative directorial debut feature from Carmen Emmi is a compassionate and tension-filled portrayal of suppressed sexuality and seeking acceptance. Set in 1990s New York State and inspired by true events, a working-class undercover officer is tasked with entrapping and apprehending gay men, only to find himself drawn to one of his targets.

Reviews

A tantalisingly slow-burn 90s-set drama ... The audience is held claustrophobically tight as the cat-and-mouse game plays out.

Screenhub

Carmen Emmi compellingly mines thriller tropes to capture the fraught experience of suppressed sexuality, but it's Lucas and Andrew’s heart-rending, beautifully performed love story that endures.

EMPIRE MAGAZINE

… the heat builds in unexpected ways, ultimately igniting through the quiet agony of living as someone you’re not.

New York Times

The relationship between Lucas and Andrew feels effectively raw, largely thanks to the performances from Blyth and Tovey.
