Synopsis

An intriguing psychological drama about isolation, Copenhagen Does Not Exist revolves around a radical and unconventional love story between two complex people. Young woman Ida (Angela Bundalovic, Copenhagen Cowboys) disappears without a trace. Three months later, her boyfriend Sander (newcomer Jonas Holst Schmidt) voluntarily agrees to an unusual arrangement: to be locked in an apartment and interrogated by Ida’s father (Zlatko Burić, Triangle of Sadness) and brother to uncover what really happened, but Sander does not tell reveal all. It soon becomes clear that long before her disappearance, the two lovers had chosen a strange and unconventional life: choosing to cut themselves off from the world in the search for intimacy, the couple isolated themselves in the middle of the big city. Based on the novel Sander by Norwegian author Terje Holtet Larsen and with a screenplay by Oscar-nominated screenwriter and director Eskil Vogt (The Worst Person in the World) Martin Skovbjerg’s second feature explores the power of memories and how grief alters our reality.
